2012 NLL Pool

Hello again everyone! The 2012 NLL pool is ready for action. The groups have been set, the rosters updated, and we are ready to pick teams. Here are some instructions for getting started:

1. Go to http://nllpool.com/
2. Log in if you're not already.
3. If you don't get the message "You don't have a team. Choose one!", you need to log out and then log in again.
4. Choose your team.

There were lots of changes in the NLL over the off-season, here are the highlights:

• The Boston Blazers are gone
• Athan Iannucci is now on Edmonton but has not yet been signed. Rumours say they are close though.
• Casey Powell is now on Rochester but has not signed. He's said that he likely won't play this year.
• Dan Dawson and Brodie Merrill are now on Philly
• Josh Sanderson, Dan Carey, and Matt Roik are on Toronto, Watson has retired
• Shawn Williams and Aaron Wilson are in Edmonton
• Luke Wiles and Kevin Buchanan are in Buffalo
• Shawn Evans is in Calgary
• Anthony Cosmo was drafted by Minnesota in the Boston dispersal draft but has not reported and likely won't. Unless he's traded to Toronto (or possibly Buffalo or Rochester), he will sit out the season

An entire list of all the changes is here.

The pool rules are all the same this year as in previous years. The season starts January 8 so teams must be chosen by then. All rookies who made rosters should already be there but if you want to add someone who isn't there, let me know. Good luck!

2011 Regular season results

Todd is our regular season winner for 2011! Congrats Todd, and congrats also to Mike for finishing second and winning Q4. Our four quarterly winners (Faisal, Kerri, Liam, and Mike) are already paid for the playoff pool, as is Lynda for finishing last in the regular season pool.

We had a record 13 people in this year's pool. At $20 each, that's $260. The quarterly winners got $20 each, so that leaves $180 for prizes. First place wins 75%, or $135, and second wins $45.

I'll get the pool ready for the playoffs this week, but you won't have much time to make your picks - the first game is Saturday night at 7:30pm. East matchups are Buffalo vs. Boston and Toronto vs. Rochester, while the west is Calgary vs. Colorado and Minnesota vs. Washington. Winners of the two East games play each other as do the winners of the two west games, and then those winners meet for the Championship the weekend of May 13th-15th.

A reminder that the NLL playoffs are single-game elimination, so Mr. Average on a team that plays three games may outscore Mr. Superstar on a team that only plays one.

Replacements

It's week 3, so you can now replace players that have not yet played. The list of players who have not played (that someone has picked) is:

• Pat Maddalena (Jerry, Mike, Graeme, Liam, Faisal) – was injured but is apparently close to coming back – maybe this weekend?
• Ryan Powell (Rich) – just signed by Boston to play with his brother
• Scott Evans (Jerry, Mike, Graeme, Liam, Lynda, Todd, Faisal, Adam, Jeff, Rich) – healthy scratch for two games (?!) but traded to Edmonton last night
• Kevin Dostie (Rich) – not signed by anyone as far as I know

If you have any players you can replace, there will be a link on the main page (http://nllpool.com/). You don't have to replace anyone if you don't want to.

You have until game time (7:30pm) on Friday night to make your changes.
